I LOVE Govindas so much, and usually get it at LEAST once a week. Me and my mum have been fans of it for YEARS, she’s been getting Govindas since the buffet days :) I used to get the Medium, but since changing to choices, I’ve been getting the 3 Choices, which serves as dinner for me. My mum usually always gets the 4 Choices, corresponding to the old Large, as she finds that she can have half for dinner that night, then save the other half for dinner the next. But recently, things have changed - Govindas has always been renowned for its generous serving sizes, known for packing each container to the brim until they’re almost overflowing! It’s something that’s always been consistent amongst staff, and something that has allowed my Mum to be able to get two meals out of the 4 Choices, and always assured us that we’re getting our money’s worth. But the last three times me and my mum have gone - as individuals as well, across six separate occasions - we’ve found that this no longer happens. Staff stop filling the containers nowhere near where they used to, and my mum can no longer get two meals out of the 4 Choices; she gets about one and a half, and for me, choosing the 3 Choices is no longer enough. So now I finish her 4 Choices, leaving us with two meals out of the three we used to get :( I’m so sad for Govindas!! but I know it would be so hard with the cost of living, which is why we were okay with the rising prices - but now that shrinkflation is hitting the store too, to the point where there’s not even a meal size fit for dinner anymore without having to buy extras or have leftovers inadequate for a meal in themselves, it’s become a bit more deterring :(. I feel as though it’s also starting to affect the staff too - the most recent occasions we’ve been there, staff have been impatient and more unfriendly, with one even being on their phone prior to us approaching. It’s not unusual for staff to be like this, but it is unusual for Govindas staff!! I haven’t been leaving the store with the warm glow the lovely ladies at the counter so lovelily usually give me :( Anyways, undoubtably we won’t be able to resist our Govindas cravings because it’s still INCREDIBLE, HEALTHY food and we love it, but it will affect how often we get it unfortunately - so all I can say is damn the cost of living!! Otherwise, I wish Govindas Burleigh all the best as they navigate these pressures🙏🙏🙏

First time at a purely vegetarian restaurant! Govindas had a nice vibe to it and is located on the buzzing James St, so parking was tough to find. For food, there wasn’t a whole lot of selection but I opted for the veg korma w/ rice. It was okay. What sort of put me off was the lady almost touching the food while she was scooping my meal up, as she had no gloves on. 🫣 Nevertheless, Govindas was alright, but I wouldn’t be rushing back.

Tasty food, generous portions, and friendly service. We ordered the Lassniga with rice and curry, and a Mango Lassi as a drink. Everything was delicious! We’ll definitely come back to try other options.

I've recently started visiting Govindas quite often and always go for their combo deal (rice + 2 or 3 sides). I’ve tried the Thai curry, pakoras, and potato wedges, all really tasty! The staff is always welcoming and friendly. Prices are fair, and the portion size is perfect for one person. Will definitely keep coming back!
