First of all, a massive congratulations to the entire team at Royal Udupi on an incredible grand opening! 🎉👏 Now, let’s talk about the star of the evening—the FOOD! 🤤 For a restaurant on its very first day, the food was genuinely impressive. The dose, benne dose, medhu vada, Madur vada, aloo bonda, sweet lassi and filter coffee were absolutely delicious. I’d honestly say it’s already 90% of what you’d get in the iconic Udupi restaurants of Bengaluru. The remaining 10%? I’ll happily call it the “Grand Opening Bonus” because I’m sure they’ll get there in no time. Yes, there was a wait—but come on… it was opening day at dinner time! If you expected to walk straight in without a queue, that’s like expecting Sydney’s M4 to be traffic-free at 6 PM. 😄 The ambience was fantastic—beautiful elephant wall art, vibrant lighting and a warm South Indian vibe that instantly makes you feel welcome. A big shout-out to the Royal Udupi team. Imagine your very first service and half of Sydney decides it’s the perfect night to visit! They handled the rush with smiles, courtesy and plenty of effort. They’ll only become faster and more polished from here. Now, a small message to the few “main characters” who felt the need to create a scene… 🤭 Walking into a brand-new restaurant on opening night, seeing every table full and then acting surprised that there’s a wait is like standing in the rain and complaining that you’re getting wet. 😅 Patience is free, and trust me, it tastes much better than unnecessary drama. The team was working incredibly hard, and they deserved encouragement—not complaints. Overall experience: 10/10. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Would I recommend it? Absolutely—without a doubt. Go for the food, enjoy the ambience, support the amazing team, and take a little patience with you. Every great restaurant starts somewhere, and if this is how Royal Udupi has started, Sydney’s South Indian food scene just got a whole lot better. Welcome to Sydney, Royal Udupi!
